We all know what this one is by the viral videos of them playing dead. The hognose’s appearance mimics a rattle snake that inhabits the same environment so be careful. Their nose looks rather flat hence the name “hog-nosed” snake. They use their nose to dig around for their food (amphibians). The Axanthic Western Hognose is short but heavy-bodied, so they are the perfect size if you are limited on space.
